Fırat Open Source Code Academy

Open Source Software (AKKY - Open Source Software): It is a software model that makes it possible to examine and change the source code of the software and to distribute the software to third parties for free or for a fee. Fırat University is a university that produces final products with its Computer and Software Engineering Departments, Open Source code communities and academic staff that support Open Source content producers, administrative structures and high potential students.

As Fırat University, a total of 4000 students are provided education in the Faculty of Engineering, Software Engineering, Faculty of Technology, Software Engineering, and Faculty of Engineering, Computer Engineering department. The curriculum created in the relevant departments has been tried to be conveyed to the students with the emphasis on Open Source code. The course contents are created based on Open Source codes such as C, JAVA, PHP, PYTON, C# and Laravel, and the curriculum aims to raise scientific awareness about Open Source code. With its Open Source experience and student potential, Fırat University established the Fırat University Digital Transformation and Software Office Coordinator in 2020 and turned it into real activity.

F.U. A "Fırat Open Source Code Academy", open to the participation of all our students, has been established within the Digital Transformation and Software Office Coordinatorship. This academy organizes seminars where students can learn about Open Source studies carried out around the world. At the same time, this academy enables students who have knowledge about Open Source to take part as spectators or developers in real Open Source projects carried out within DDYO.
